Mahler V is one of the great symphonic works of the late Romantic Period and Hongkongers are set to be treated to a rare performance by the Ponte Orchestra in October.

“In these five movements, you may experience the tragic music from the funeral march, the mixed feeling of melancholy and ecstasy which is very typical for Mahler, the beautiful nature scenery music, not to mention the most famous 4th movement, a love letter that Mahler wrote to his lover, later his wife, Alma.”
Mahler was at the peak of his career when he composed his 5th symphony.
It is regarded as one of the most challenging and colourful orchestral repertoire.
Ponte Orchestra is made up of graduates from local music universities and was founded in 2010.
