The Hong Kong Police Force have appointed Andrew Kan as the new head of the National Security Police Department. It comes after his predecessor was found in an unlicensed massage parlour and later transferred from the post.

According to the police website, Kan joined the Force in 1991 as an inspector, and was promoted to the post of the director of national security in December last year.

Kan’s predecessor, Frederic Choi, was found in an unlicensed massage parlour during a police search of the premises in March last year. Investigations conducted by the Organized Crime And Triad Bureau and later by the Justice Department cleared Choi of any criminal activity.

Choi was later transferred in mid-August last year and took the post as the head of the Personnel and Training Department.
