Foreigners in Beijing have heaped praise upon China’s WWII military parade and defence policies in a video published by state-run CCTV America.

In the clip, a Canadian expat named Timothy Tembo, hailed President Xi Jinping’s announcement that 300,000 troops would be cut from the People’s Liberation Army.

“I think that once again other countries take cue from China in this way… If all different countries start reducing the military together, that’s also another way that we can eventually have peace,” he said.

Citing Chairman Mao Zedong, Cleopatra Wise paid tribute to the feminist values of the Communist Party.

Another American, Kendall Gigi, said: “I was really impressed with the colourful display, the blue skies, the coloured balloons, colours in the artillery and I think that really emphasises the nature of celebration”.

The video, entitled ‘Foreigners in Beijing share joy of V-Day parade’, was broadcast on CCTV America.

Last month, a video entitled ‘Tibet in the eyes of foreigners’ featured foreign visitors hailing development in the region.
