The Government Records Service has shared 70 photographs showing buildings along Kowloon’s Nathan Road in the mid-1970s.
“This set of photos brings back the collective memories of Nathan Road in the mid-1970s. We hope they can promote the appreciation of archival records,” a spokesperson said.
The collection – taken between 1976 and 1980 – recorded the road conditions during the construction of the MTR system between Prince Edward Station and Tsim Sha Tsui Station.
The archival set was obtained from the Lands Department.
Long-lost landmarks such as the Astor Theatre feature in the shots of the shopping thoroughfare, famously known as the “golden mile.”
