Hong Kong is to offer same-day Covid-19 vaccination appointments with no advance booking in an attempt to boost the take-up rate.

From Wednesday 21 community vaccination centres (CVCs) across the city will distribute tickets to Hongkongers wishing to receive their jabs that day at a designated time slot.
“Under the new arrangement, members of the public can get vaccinated without prior bookings as long as there are quotas of vaccinations available at the 21 CVCs,” a government spokesperson said in a statement on Monday.
HKID required
The same-day tickets will be handed out everyday, starting at 7:45 a.m, on a first-come, first-served basis until the end of October. The centres will be closed between 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m daily. The vaccination sessions end at 7:30 p.m.

Individuals must present their Hong Kong identification cards for a ticket but can also authorise a family member to collect a ticket on their behalf, using a copy of their identification card.
