A new exhibition installation showcases images from Hong Kong’s now-closed “Instagram pier.”

Artist Pierfrancesco Celada runs the Instagram page “Instagrampier” in tribute to a much-love, iconic public space in the Wester District of Hong Kong island.

The Western District Public Cargo Working Area, known as the “instagram pier” after it became a popular backdrop for social media images, was officially a closed off area for years, but members of the community still used the space for leisure and photo-ops.

The images celebrate the community and playfulness the pier inspired.

Authorities blocked off public access to the pier in March.

The exhibition will run from June 15 -25 at the WMA art space in Central.
