A police officer shot and injured himself inside the police station on Hong Kong’s Cheung Chau island on Tuesday afternoon, local media reported.

According to iCable News and Apple Daily, the officer is a senior constable in the criminal investigation department and had been transferred from Sham Shui Po district to Cheung Chau.

A staffer of Cheung Chau district councillor Super Leung told HKFP that police had blocked off the police station.

Police did not immediately confirm the shooting but said they were investigating an incident and would release more details later.
