On Thursday’s National Day, riot police were heavily deployed across Hong Kong to prevent a banned pro-democracy demonstration planned for the afternoon.

Officers raised yellow, blue and purple banners throughout the day warning those present that they were participating in an unlawful assembly and may be in breach of the national security law. Police arrested 69 people on suspicion of participating in an unauthorised assembly and issued at least 20 fines for violations of Covid-19 social distancing regulations. Click here for full story.
