Trains between Hong Kong Station and the airport were halted, with journeys between Tung Chung and Sunny Bay also suspended.

During the disruption, replacement bus services were put into operation and the MTR closed In-Town Check-in services.

Normal train services began to resume at around 10am.

“Before the end of traffic at 23/Mar (Sat) night, damage was found on a Tung Chung Line train [which] disabled overhead live wires between Pak Mong, Lantau Island and Sunny Bay thus Tung Chung Line and Airport Express services were affected,” the MTR’s unofficial Twitter feed said.
