Hong Kong Free Press is a media sponsor for NGO Green Sense’s 2018 “No Air-con night” on Friday, October 5.
The territory-wide energy-saving campaign began in 2010 to promote the wiser use of air-conditioning and raise awareness of the importance of reducing greenhouse gases.

Last year, Hongkongers consumed 13.6 billion kilowatts of energy per hour with their use of air conditioning, emitting about 7.57 million tonnes of carbon dioxide.
Green Sense aims to get 120,000 households in Hong Kong to reduce 514 tonnes of carbon emission through this year’s event.
Hongkongers are invited to switch off their air conditioning units next Friday, October 5, from 7pm until 7am the next day.
Green Sense will be holding a kick-off ceremony at the Tamar Park waterfront, with activities including moonlight orienteering, a street workout, a yoga class on the lawn and stargazing.
Date: October 5, 2018
Venue: Tamar Park
Time: 5pm-9pm
Everyone is welcome to join in the activities and enjoy the sea breeze in an air-con-free environment.
Make a pledge to turn off your air conditioner next Friday on No Air Con Night’s official website.
