The Observatory is monitoring a tropical depression after raising the T1 storm signal at 11:10pm on Saturday.

The storm is expected to to skirt around 300km or more to the southwest of the city on Sunday.

“Winds will be occasionally strong offshore on Sunday. Unless the tropical depression takes a track closer to Hong Kong or intensify significantly, the chance to issue higher signals will not be high,” the Observatory said.

“The Observatory will closely monitor its impact on local weather.”

There will be isolated thunderstorms on Sunday with temperatures reaching 31 degrees Celsius. Showers will continue into Monday with very hot weather expected later in the week.
