Six men aged between 18 and 53 have been arrested in relation to threats made against incoming lawmaker Eddie Chu Hoi-dick, a police spokesperson told HKFP.

The suspected triads were brought to New Territories North Regional Police Headquarters on Wednesday morning and held on suspicion of criminal intimidation. The authorities made multiple visits to the Yuen Long district earlier this month. None have been charged as yet.

Police handed out flyers asking residents to report any incidents that could be related to threats made against “an incoming lawmaker.”

Chu received threats against him and his family both before and after he won a legislative election seat on September 4.

He reported the threats to the police four days after the election, and is now under police protection.
