A man with a pickaxe was seen in a Mong Kok shop on Sunday. Police intervened and convinced him to leave and complete medical checkup.

At around 1pm, the 49-year-old entered a Broadway electronics store at the Bank Centre mall in Mong Kok. The man was walking in circles and talking to himself, Ming Pao reported.

The police arrived after a member of staff reported the incident and evacuated customers. They talked to the man as an officer stood on guard holding an extendable baton.

The man finally agreed to leave with no injuries reported.

The incident was listed as a “suspected mentally ill person found”. The police are contacting the man’s family to investigate.
