Severe Tropical Storm Mujigae is set to pass south of Hong Kong this weekend bringing heavy rain and strong winds to the territory.

The T3 Strong Wind Signal was hoisted at 10:20am on Saturday.

The Hong Kong Observatory says Mujigae will steadily move across the South China coast throughout Saturday and will be nearest to the city on Sunday morning.

Wind speeds of 75 kilometers per hour were recorded on Waglan Island during Saturday lunchtime.

The HKO said that it is unlikely the T8 signal will be hoisted this weekend.
