Tai Wai MTR station was evacuated on Monday evening after a cardboard box marked “bomb” was discovered.
Several dozen bomb disposal officers wearing protective gear responded, but police later confirmed that the suspicious package did not contain any explosives.
Che Kung Miu Road was closed northbound and traffic was rerouted as a precaution.
Police received a report from a concerned member of the public at around 7pm. Oriental Daily reported that the suspicious item was found outside a station toilet.
