After a successful Winter Olympics bid in Kuala Lumpur, the Beijing team were quick to announce nine official songs for the upcoming 2022 games.
One song, entitled “Ice Dance”, was recorded by mainland pop singers Sun Nan and Tan Jing and released on May 27. However, the melody has given some a sense of deja vu.
Netizens have been quick to point out that there are some similarities between the song and Disney’s popular power anthem ‘Let It Go’ from the movie Frozen.
One commenter said: “Nothing we can do, this is China – from officials to citizens, plagiarism is part of the culture.” Another asked: “What? Did China just watch Let it Go, really like it and decide to plagiarise it?”
