A sensational series of posters showing firefighters in dramatic scenes has won the hearts of netizens in China.

The pictures, released by authorities in Mianyang, Sichuan feature a group of young and muscular firefighters.

The designer of the posters told Chinese media that he wanted to portray the firefighters’ “strong physique, upright posture as well as courageous and fearless dedication.”

The feedback from most viewers has been positive. Many marvelled at the firemen’s ripped chests as others said the posters reminded them of Hong Kong disaster film “As The Light Goes Out.”

However, some questioned the logic behind portraying the firemen as being “on fire”.

“Are they there to put out the fire or start the fire?” asked one user on Weibo.
